This book presents a complete development of both type-1 and type-2 fuzzy logic systems, showing how the expanded fuzzy logic contains the original fuzzy within it. The text demonstrates that when uncertainties are present in a problem, better performance is obtained by using a type-2 fuzzy logic system. Application-specific MATLAB M-files are described in the end-of-chapter computation sections and in an appendix.
