What motivates you to contribute on Matlab Answers?

I can see a lot of non MathWorks staff being active participants on this forum. Having just started out on this forum(and one day hoping to become like Walter Roberson, Image Analyst etc), I was curious about what is it that keeps them driving.

  1. I program in MATLAB all day long and know a lot about it. I like helping people learn, especially about MATLAB, and this is the best way to help lots of people.
  2. I like puzzles and brain teasers - I have my entire life. They're fun and challenging. And each question is like a little puzzle to solve.
  3. I sometimes learn about new functions that I did not know about that could help me in my work. Or new algorithms or approaches to solving problems.

I find it a good way to see what other people are working on, and what's prominent in STEM fields in general.
I also find it a good way to see how colleagues close to my field approach problems. This can be especially valuable if you work in an environment where you are not surrounded by co-workers with similar specialties as you are.
