On opening Matlab it starts using a lot of CPU, which increases up to 500% before it spits out a Java out of memory error.
I'm using Yosemite 10.10.2 on a 2013 MacBook Retina Pro.
The problem occurs with Matlab2014b and Matlab2015a, but not with Matlab2013b.
Recently updated Java to Version 8, update 31. To the best of my knowledge all versions of Matlab were running fine prior to this update.
I have followed the directions here (<http://au.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/103056-how-do-i-change-the-java-virtual-machine-jvm-that-matlab-is-using-for-mac-os#answer_112402>) to change the Java used but the same problem occurs under both >> java -version Java 1.7.0_55-b13 and >> java -version Java 1.8.0_31-b15

Update from Matlab - Java 8 is not supported on Matlab2014b or Matlab2015a, and will cause issues.
"I am writing regarding 'MATLAB 2014b/2015a potential Java bug'.
I understand that MATLAB is throwing Java out-of-memory errors on your MacBook.
On Mac, R2014b and R2015a, MATLAB are tested, qualified, and shipped with Java versions 1.7.0_55-b13 and Java 1.7.0_60-b19 respectively. MATLAB currently does not support Java 8.
Thus, please try reverting MATLAB to the above Java 7 versions and see if the errors still occur. If reverting the Java versions do not resolve the issue, or if you have any further questions, please let me know and I will be happy to help."
