if you could give an example it would be great!

Matlab GUI and Arduino sensor data

I have two questions: 1. How do I use a table in Matlab GUI that continuously takes various sensor data from Arduino? On one column I want it to be the time. 2. How will I continuously display the Arduino sensor data in a static text?
The difference between (1) and (2) is that in (1) all the data are seen or recorded and in (2) the data seen are the real time values.
This is the code I've used in the Matlab:
global a;
i = 0;
while i==0
p=fscanf(a);
set(handles.statictext1,'String',p);
end
Please I need answers! Thanks!
