Neuronal Network Toolbox: the size of w1=net.IW is 1 smaller then the size of no_input

Hello everybody,
I am a beginner in ANNs. I hope this question is not too stupid. I used the ANN Toolbox to create a network for 9 inputs (9x500 double). Apparently I only get (1x8) double as w1 (net.IW). Shouldn't it equal the number of inputs? Any idea what might be the error?
