My Matlab recently told me to update my version. How is this done?

How do I update my MATLAB?

In the command window, on the upper right, click on RESOURCES . Click on Help there. One of the menu items that comes up will the Check for Updates . If MATLAB finds an update, it will offer to install the update.
Note: you will need to close all MATLAB sessions to install updates, including any MATLAB sessions you might have that are running some different version that you are not updating. (The checks it does for running copies of MATLAB cannot distinguish between versions.)

It turns out that the version of matlab that was installed on my machine at the time of this request did not have a section or text or link labeled resources. However by fumbling around on possible links in the upper right I was able to find a screeen that implied the ability to update.
