Does Simulink compiles a model when opening it?

I have a question regarding stages of compilation and simulation in Simulink. I read the documentation in here https://www.mathworks.com/help/simulink/ug/simulating-dynamic-systems.html
However I am not sure what kind of checks Simulink does when opening/loading the model in Simulink without compiling it.
The reason I am asking is does the results differ when programmatically getting metrics of the model through Simulink check. I am able to get results even if the model is slmetrics api in Simulink check is throwing compilation errors. Some random sampling and testing suggest results doesnot vary.
However I am not sure if that is the case for every other model.

No, when Simulink opens a model it does not compile it.

Thank you for the reply. Is there any documentation you can point me to regarding what kind of checks does Simulink performs while opening a model?
