SCR Forced Commutation Virtual Laboratory

SCR Forced Commutation Virtual Laboratory: Interactive Multi-Class Simulator

You are now following this Submission

An interactive educational simulation app designed for undergraduate Power Electronics laboratories to demonstrate the transient physical mechanics of Silicon Controlled Rectifier (SCR) Forced Commutation.
The software acts as a virtual dual-trace oscilloscope panel, decoupling electrical behaviors by stacking transient voltage profiles on top and concurrent current loops on the bottom. Students can dynamically interact with circuit tuning dials to manipulate load traits, commutating inductors (chokes), and pulse capacitors to verify theoretical calculations against live waveforms.
Key Features:
• Coverage of 4 fundamental topologies: Class A (Load Resonant), Class B (Parallel Resonant), Class C (Complementary), and Class D (Auxiliary Impulse).
• Automatic interlock constraints that simulate and diagnose physical circuit faults (such as overdamped loops or tracking failure boundaries).
• Embedded interactive laboratory guidelines and dynamic operational summaries within the interface.
• Automated high-fidelity metrics tracking including circuit turn-off margins (t_q) and relational phase conduction angle mapping.
• Clean high-contrast Light Theme formatting tailored for digital classroom projection and textbook correlation.
