Destripes images that have mismatched or uncalibrated detector gains result in striped patterns along rows of the image.

When images are acquired with a scanned 1D array, or otherwise have a row dependent gain, if the gains are uncalibrated the resulting image appears to have stripes. To destripe the image, the rows are normalized (subtract the mean and divide by the standard deviation) and optionally, the image may be set to the mean and standard deviation of a given row.
