Description
Vehicle development is a team effort. The key to mastering complex applications in the areas of ADAS/AD, EV/HEV, energy optimization, thermal management, zero-emissions, functional testing, safety, and security is understanding the whole system early in the process and using advanced simulation techniques in both development and testing phases.
Model.CONNECT is a ready-to-use platform for building virtual twins in a heterogeneous tool landscape and a leading tool for Functional Mockup Unit (FMU)-based model integration and co-simulation. The focus in the development phase is on maximum accuracy (by patented co-simulation error elimination algorithm "NEPCE") and performance (optimized parallel scheduling and time-step synchronization), while in the testing phase it is a seamless transition from non-real-time office applications (such as functional testing, simulation, and software-in-the-loop (SIL)) to real-time lab environments (such as HIL and testbeds) and augmented real-world testing, using patented “ACoRTA” technology.
There is a dedicated tool interface for integration and co-simulation of MATLAB and Simulink models, supporting several MATLAB and Simulink versions and options. Co-simulation can be coupled, multithreaded, and in-process or decoupled, distributed, and over TCP/IP. Model.CONNECT can integrate S-functions, all the FMU- and many RT-derivatives of MATLAB and Simulink models, and support various MATLAB and Simulink native data input and output formats. Model.CONNECT can also create FMU models from MATLAB and Simulink models with support for an embedded XCP interface.
MATLAB and Simulink models can be seamlessly integrated, into a complex Model.CONNECT co-simulation environment and be reused in both virtual and hardware testing environments. Model.CONNECT improves development efficiency by strongly supporting model-based systems engineering (MBSE), model management (SPDM), automated execution, data analytics, and documented and traceable cross-team collaboration with IP protection in virtually any integration environment. Thanks to extensive usage of simulation methods for testing virtualization and process digitalization, development iteration loops are shorter and faster, and testing efficiency is increased.
Typical end users are simulation, integration, and IT engineers dealing with component development, systems engineering, and virtualized testing in the automotive industry. The application field ranges from component development and system design to control function development, integration, calibration, and testing.
