MathWorks recommends the use of DSP HDL Toolbox, which encompasses the filter structures available in Filter Design HDL Coder, while also offering advanced and high-performance filters and signal processing support for FPGAs and ASICs. It includes templates for interfacing MATLAB and Simulink as well as reference examples. To generate synthesizable VHDL or Verilog code you will require HDL Coder.
