ISBN: 978-0-7680-4765-3;
Language: English
This book provides comprehensive coverage of design and engineering effort behind the Chevrolet Volt. Drawing on articles from SAE International’s Vehicle Electrification and Automotive Engineering International magazines, the author presents the GM team and key supplier partners responsible for developing the Volt, as well as many of the challenges they encountered. The book also covers how the Volt was developed using Model-Based Design and automatic code generation based on Simulink and Embedded Coder. Using this methodology, engineers were able to capture the system dynamics and control algorithms, including diagnostics, in a modeling environment while the hardware was being developed.
MATLAB, Simulink, and Embedded Coder are discussed in a chapter on code generation.
