Medical devices are complex devices that involve safety critical and complex control problems. We will discuss topics around model based design focusing on simulation and rapid protoyping of Medical devices using Simulink, Simulink Real-Time and Speedgoat target hardware.
Testing and prototyping software with real-time simulations has been going on for several decades in the aerospace and automotive communities to ensure safety and quality in their products. In the last several years as the amount of software in medical devices has increased and become more complex, the engineers making these devices have also started to adopt these tried and true development practices.
We will look at how using the MathWorks tools for real-time simulation and testing, engineers can more easily prototype and design safer, higher quality software to meet the demands of the FDA and needs of the medical community.
The webinar will focus on designing and protoyping a heart infusion pump and also testing and validating it in real-time.
About the Presenter
Ethan Woodruff has been an Application Engineer at MathWorks for over 10 years. He spends the majority of his time out in the field helping customers take advantage of using the MathWorks tools for various types of testing, verification, and validation activities with a specialized expertise in real-time simulation testing. Previously, he worked for BAE SYSTEMS doing real-time HIL simulation testing at the US Air Force's Guided Weapons Evaluation Facility. He holds B.A. in Physics and a B.A. in Mathematics with an emphasis in Applied Mathematics from the University of Montana.
