Understand and Improving the Supermarket Price Reductions Process
Duncan Apthorp, Tesco Plc
Tesco sells many fresh food products that have a short shelf life. In order to minimise waste, as products approach their out-of-code date, prices are reduced to provide shoppers with additional incentive to purchase. Tesco is using data handling, machine learning, and optimization capabilities in MATLAB® to understand and improve the effectiveness of the reductions process. In this session, Duncan presents recent work in this area by his supply chain development team.
