Segmentation of Ultrasonography Images

 I am doing project on Image processing. I am working on ultrasonography image. I want to segment kidney image from background. In paper they have proposed K-means clustering. They segment kidney in five parts. centre, upper, lower,right and left.  so please help in how to segmen this image. is there any other method or algorithm.
