How can I make (1) x-y plots and (2) an animation from imported data where x-y data are in one column?

I'd really appreciate some help with array indexing and plotting. I used to be able to do this, but it is ages since I last used Matlab and I haven't had any success with the online examples I've encountered so far.

The file attached (c.txt) shows time steps in the left-hand column. The right-hand column contains x and y data. I do know the number of x and y values.

I need to first make 2-D plots of the x and y data. Then I want to animate them. The most important part is the 2-D plots, though. If anyone would be kind enough to provide an example, I would be very grateful! I have managed to import the data from the file into Matlab.
