I have a GUI with a input text box for alphabets and a push button for the alphabets to convert into morse codes. I tried but it shows errors and the result wont show up in the output text box, can someone help me?

letter=get(hObject,'string');
handles.letter=letter;
You are not storing the handle in handles.letter you are storing the string.
word = char(get(handles.Letter, 'String'));
but here you expect it to be a handle not a string.
Also be careful on Letter compared to letter . MATLAB is case sensitive for this purpose.

Okay... but I recommend you think more about the user interaction. What you are asking for is that the user types in something in English into an edit field, and that when they push the button, that the English is converted into Morse code, and that the Morse code is output over top of what they typed in English -- the input and output are the same field. I recommend that you separate the input and output fields.
