Hi,
On 2nd gen, is it possible to make a geometry move a certain distance and then stop there?
I.e a cylinder move 5m on the x axis and then becomes attached to a world frame.
Is that possible?
Thanks

You mean like a controller that applies forces to move the geometry move to a reference distance? Sure.
You could measure the joint's position, place that measurement in a feedback loop, and apply it back as a force. Here's a simple example:

Motion actuation is possible in R2013b and later. For what you described, this would be a ramp from 0 to 5m which stays constant at 5 after that.
I like how this blog explains it: http://blogs.mathworks.com/seth/2013/11/13/motion-actuation-in-simmechanics-r2013b/
