Matlab 2007b stopped working upon upgrade to Ubuntu 15.4

I just 'upgraded' to Ubuntu 15.4 and Matlab stopped working.

I had Matlab 2007b (*) working fine under the previous version.

Now it just shows the splash screen, then goes away. Anyone else having this problem?

(*) Yes 2007b, for obvious reasons, I refuse to play the activation game, thank you, even though I keep paying MathWorks for annual maintenance!
