I have installed Matlab R2011a and tried to use xlswrite() function, but I am getting error ; Error using xlswrite (line 219), Invoke Error, Dispatch Exception: The parameter is incorrect. I have installed other version of Matlab R2015a but error is still there? xlswrite('test.xsls', [12, 0,5]);
Please suggest the reason

I've battled this stupid error for too many hours, and only found one clue to what seemed to be the problem: Excel add-ins! Looking at the error message, I got the code 'MATLAB:COM:E0'. I looked in the add-ins section in Excel's options and what you know, FoxIt reader has installed an add-in that has to do with Excel's COM interface. I disabled it, restarted MATLAB and the error was gone!
This also solved the problem I had with xlsread(), which forced me to use the 'basic' parameter otherwise it wouldn't read any file.

Thanks. Your answer totally worked. I was extremely horrified by this error. I found some other solutions like changing windows installation from Click to Run to msi but none worked.

I had this error and after all procedures I tried, my microsoft office's version was 2013 and I changed it to 2016 version and the error was gone!
