hello
I am planning to buy a new laptop suitable for MATLAB programming but can not decide which one to take. Can you please suggest which would be suitable?
Thanks

Monika - I think that it all depends upon what sort of tasks that you will be using MATLAB for. Can you describe them?

One guideline would be to ensure that the machine satisfies the system requirements from the MathWorks web site.

The Alienware 17. Make sure you get the SSD's and 32 GB of RAM.
You would have one of the best computers available. It's a laptop editor's gaming choice: http://www.laptopmag.com/reviews/laptops/alienware-17
Otherwise, just look at the MATLAB guide for choosing a computer: http://www.mathworks.com/products/matlab/choosing_hardware.html

I also play videogames on mine. I have found that good gaming computers are quite capable of doing everything you need to do with MATLAB. This is especially relevant if you do MATLAB programming that require sophisticated graphics capability. I would use the PC GAMER hardware reviews as one source of information.
I personally prefer HP machines with AMD processors and AMD Radeon graphics.
I had an Alienware machine several years ago. It cost $2K and lasted four months before it became completely inoperable.
