Windows 7 and Matlab 7.1
Show older comments
Hello,
I had used Matlab 7.1 under Windows Vista. Recently I upgraded OS to Windows 7 and reinstalled Matlab. However it seems not to work: When Matlab is launched, error screen comes. I wonder whether Matlab 7.1 is workable under Windows 7. If not, should I use virtual XP or is there any other way to use Matlab 7.1? Your answer will be appreciated.

The only known way to run MATLAB 7.1 under Windows 7 is through a program that emulates an earlier operating system.
R2007a (perhaps R2006b) is the earliest version of MATLAB that people have been able to get running relatively stably on Windows 7.

Sounds like you're saying that you changed the default font(s) for MATLAB via the Preferences screen and that fixed the problem.

You can try running it WinXP compatible mode. Right click on the MATLAB icon and select properties. Click the "Compatibility" tab and set it up to be compatible with WinXP.

Running in WinXP compatibility mode did not work. However, running in Vista (no service pack) did work.
