Change default Update Function for datatips

Is it possible to change the default Update Function for datatips?

I know I can change it for an existing figure fig with

 set(datacursormode(fig), 'UpdateFcn', @my_update_fcn)

but I'm asking if it possible to change it for all future figures that will be created after. One possible solution is to create a "new" figure command that execute the previous code before showing the window, but that doesn't seem the optimal way to do it.

Unfortunately, No, there is no way to configure a default for that since R2014b (there was for R2014a and before.)

That's really unfortunate. I suppose that was a byproduct of some background change, since I don't quite understand why Mathworks had to remove this functionality.

How would it go in R2014a?
