Running .sh file from command line

Hello! I am trying to run a .sh file I created from a makefile (with mcc), but I am getting the following output:
Usage:
./run_Example1.sh <deployedMCRroot> args
My input is:
./run_Example1.sh $MATLAB
Do I need to specify an output file? If so, how would I do that if the output of the "Example1" file is supposed to be plots? Also, my "Example1" file relys on a lot of other functions, so I am not sure if I need to be passing arguments to the other functions if I have already made the .sh file?
