Surveying the MATLAB community

I'm currently preparing for my master thesis in which I will be conducting a series of surveys for research concerning MATLAB and many of its features.

Therefore, one of the target populations for my surveys will be the MATLAB community, so I was wondering if:

• anyone knows about any similar work done (here at mathworks.com or elsewhere) that I could study;
• you think this would be a good place to start gathering respondents.

One point about using this forum for a survey-based quantification of matlab-users is that this is a sub-set of all matlab-users that is certainly not from a uniform random selection - i.e. biased (possibly very much so in some aspects). But it is a good place to start...
