how to impliment IMAGE GRADIENT in Script?

hi, i wish t write a generalized code for sobel/prewitt operator for evaluation of image gradient as well as the direction of the gradient. How to save vector of the gradient according to direction.

There is code for that in the Image Processing Toolbox in the edge() function. However if you don't have that and want to try to write your own, then you need to learn how to program MATLAB, and a script is the most basic thing there is.
