Real-Time Windows Target: rtwintgt -setup claims to be 'successful', but rtwho then reveals that the kernel hasn't been installed.

When I try to install rtwintgt, this occurs:

Can anyone shed some light as to how I can get the setup working properly??

I'm running MATLAB r2012b with Real-Time Windows Target 4.1 included on Windows 8 64-bit.

Do you start MATLAB as Administrator when you run "rtwintgt -setup"? If not, please try that and see if it fixes the issue.

I have tried running MATLAB as Administrator, and unfortunately it doesn't fix the issue.

This is a known problem with R2012b and Windows 8. This is caused by a late change in Windows 8 that prevents correct initialization of the real-time kernel. Unfortunately we haven't been able to fix it for the R2012b release.

Please try R2013a Prerelease, the problem should be fixed there.

I'm running Windows 8 x64 with Matlab R2013b and I'm still not able to install the real time kernel. I've tried running as admin, take ownership, and making windows update with no success. I appreciate any help. Thank you.

I just found out that the problem was with the virtualization features of the cpu. Disabling VT-d at the BIOS solved the problem. Cheers

After Windows 10 updated to version 1803 I was getting BSOD crashes whenever I used SLDRT. Even running

 sldrtkernel -setup

would cause a BSOD. After reading the above I finally tried disabling VT-d in the BIOS and no more BSOD crashes.

BSOD crashes occurred with R2017b, R2018 Prerelease and R2018b. I've only tested the BIOS "fix" with R2018b.
