Fill a circle with Gaussian districution- like colour contour

Hi,
I am new to the Image Processing Toolbox. I am currently using 'insertshape' to generate a 'filledcircle' on top of an existing image. Is it possible to fill the circle with a colour contour (example as shown in the figure below) which changes as I modify the gaussian function?
I have a for loop that changes the gaussian distribution by changing the mean value for each time stamp which I can associate with RGB values to get the contour. However, I am not sure how I can fill the colour contour into the circle.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

here is a shot
clc,clear
[x,y,z] = sphere(10);
pcolor(x,y,z,'edgecolor','none')
