Matlab 2011b Crashing at start on Mac 10.8.4, installation crashes as well

1 view (last 30 days)
Dear all; since a couple of days I'm not able to run Matlab anymore. It crashes as soon as I launch it. If I try and reinstall it, it does the same thing as soon as I double click on the installer. The Matlab applet is displayed and then the crash occurs. It works ok with the -nojvm option. I reinstalled the latest version of Java with no luck. I'm running Matlab 2011b on Mac OsX 10.8.4
The Java.log file says:
Invalid memory access of location 0x8 rip=0x10d321004
Invalid memory access of location 0x0 rip=0x0
From the matlab.log file the issue seems to be coming from this:
/System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0.jdk/Contents/Home/bundle/Libraries/libclient64.dylib+00906162 JVM_Close+026387
Any idea?
Thanks!

In particular, I reinstalled Java as described here:
Thank you all.
