The Big MATLAB Update: Dark Mode, Cloud & the Future of Engineering - Michelle Hirsch

Large Languge model with MATLAB, a free add-on that lets you access LLMs from OpenAI, Azure, amd Ollama (to use local models) on MATLAB, has been updated to support OpenAI GPT-4.1, GPT-4.1 mini, and GPT-4.1 nano.
According to OpenAI, "These models outperform GPT‑4o and GPT‑4o mini across the board, with major gains in coding and instruction following. They also have larger context windows—supporting up to 1 million tokens of context—and are able to better use that context with improved long-context comprehension."
What would you build with the latest update?

Our MathWorks Usability Team is working on an accessibility project and they want to interview people who use MATLAB and also have experience with screen readers.

MatGPT was launched on March 22, 2023 and I am amazed at how many times it has been downloaded since then - close to 16,000 downloads in one year. When AI Chat Playground came out on MATLAB Central, I thought surely that people will stop using MatGPT. Boy I was wrong.

In early 2023 I was playing with the new shiny toy called ChatGPT like everyone else but instead of having it tell me jokes or haiku, I wanted to know how I can use it on MATLAB, and I started collecting the prompts that worked. Someone suggested I should turn that into an app, and MatGPT was born with help from other colleagues.
Here is the question - what should I do with it now? Some people suggested I could add other LLMs like Gemini or Claude, but I am more interested in learning how people actually use it.
If you are a MatGPT user, do you mind sharing how you use the app?

VS Code Extension for MATLAB was introduced back in April and has been downloaded 75K times since. Do people here use VS Code for writing MATLAB code?
Earlier this year a bunch of MATLAB users got together to talk about their hobbies in a lightning talk format.
- Using "UIHTML" to create app components and Lightning
- Creating generative art with MATLAB
- Making MATLAB run on the Steam Deck (it was a wager)
Do you use MATLAB for hobbies?

4 months ago, the new API was published to access content on the MATLAB Central community. I shared my MATLAB code to access the API at that time, but the team just released the official SDK.

Houman and Rameez will talk about how you can model wireless networks (5G, WLAN, Bluetooth, 802.11ax WLAN mesh, etc.) in MATLAB in the upcoming livestream. They will start with the basics such as nodes, links, topology and metrics. Then they will introduce a new free add-on library that lets you model such networks, and show you how to use it.
