close(s) closes the connection to the SFTP or FTP server associated with s.

Close Connection

Open Live Script

Open a connection to an FTP server. Then close it when your session is finished.

First, connect to the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) FTP server.

s = ftp('ftp.ngdc.noaa.gov')

  FTP with properties:

                         Host: "ftp.ngdc.noaa.gov"
                     Username: "anonymous"
                         Port: 21
                 ServerLocale: "en_US"
                 DirParserFcn: @matlab.io.ftp.parseDirListingForUnix
                         Mode: "binary"
    LocalDataConnectionMethod: "passive"
       RemoteWorkingDirectory: "/"
          CertificateFilename: "default"
            ConnectionTimeout: 5 min
              TransferTimeout: Inf sec

Show the contents on the server, and retrieve the README.txt file.

Connection to an SFTP or FTP server, specified as an SFTP object or an FTP object.

Tips

If you do not run close at the end of your session, then the connection either times out automatically or terminates when you exit MATLAB^®.
close does not return any output to indicate success or failure.
