Detect object in motion
Show older comments
Hi all,
Having a set of frame, I want to detect which object is in movement. I don't need nothing more than a mask that for each frame is positive just for that object. I also believe that it will be fine to detect it between 2 frames and I also don't need small objects in movement, but just one that are significantly noticeable.
There is a quick way to do this ?
Thank you very much

See my demo, attached below in blue, where I calculate the difference between a frame and the average of N prior frames. Adapt it as needed.

So if there's a video of me standing perfectly still wearing a white short sleeved shirt and white pants in a white room and all I'm moving is my forearm, you'd like to extract all parts of me, even the non-moving parts? That is a very very challenging problem. Then with the same algorithm you'd want to also find me as I walk onto the green lawn? And as the coulds morph and move across the sky, you'd also like to detect the edges of those? What would you want to track in a video like this video of a solar flare on a spinning sun? Basically I don't know and your question is too broad and ambiguous. You need to narrow it down. You could use color segmentation, optical flow, frame differencing, or other methods (image understanding, etc.) Maybe you can try the computer Vision System Toolbox: http://www.mathworks.com/products/computer-vision/

Well that's all I have for you: my demo and a link to the CVS Toolbox. So good luck.
