empty tooltips in code analyzer

Hi,
I'm running Matlab (R2013b) on Ubuntu (results of ver command are pasted below).
I've just started working with this system, and I've realized that coding is seriously hard because the typical "tooltips" that show up in the editor are empty. I paste an screenshot (see below): the orange marks on the right margin of the editor should indicate a warning. Passing the cursor on them, one typically gets a tootip with a short message, detailing the reason of the warning.
In my case, I still the tooltip... but cannot read anything in there, it's just a grey rectangle. This is terribly annoying... Some idea on what may be the problem?

Hello Daniel, I have mostly the same issue, but the tooltips are not always empty. It seems to depend on the position of the tooltip on the screen and whether you are using multiple monitors or not. When using 1 monitor (built-in display of my laptop) and the position of the tooltip is in the lower 2/3 of my screen, the tooltip is shown correctly. If the tooltip should be shown in the top 1/3 of the screen, the tooltip shows up a couple of lines lower as where it should show up. When using a second monitor the behavior on the built-in screen is the same, but in the top 1/3 of the screen the tooltip is empty. On the second monitor the tooltip is always empty, regardless of position.
Also, the tooltip giving hints about folders not on your path, show the same behavior.
My ver:

So I don't have a solution, but you are not the only one with empty tooltips...

Hi, I have the same Problem under R2015b under Fedora 23, with Gnome. I like my Desktop Environment and would very much prefer to not disable it, just to run MATLAB.
Is there another workaround for the Problem?

I have the exact same issue as Alexander.
Anyone figured this out?

Same here [Gnome Desktop, Centos7]. It started after a general system update (was fine for months) but can't figure out what update suddenly changed things. Tried different JDKs (Open vs Oracle) and different Java versions (6,7,8) to no avail. Any thoughts are appreciated...

Thanks Pim , I had not tried the other screen. For me the problem is on one full screen, and 1/3 right part of the other one.
