plot scientific data for one specific country

I want to plot satellite data for china using MATLABs mapping toolbox. I manage to do so for China and its surroundings, but I want to exclude all data and the parts of the map that do not belong to China from the plot. Does anyone have an idea how to do it?

If you have the outline of China's borders you could use inpolygon.

The exact method would depend on the type of data (points? polygons?).

To get you started, I'd look at inpolygon, polybool, maptrimp, maptriml, and maptrims.
