Matlab standalone app with runtime 9.10 won't run on some windows 10 machines

I've created a standalone MATLAB app and pre-compiled in the runtime (v910). I've tested deploying it on several machines and it works on about half of them without issue. On the other half the splash screen comes up and disappears, or the window opens empty. No debug info comes out on the console.
Has anyone seen anything like this before? I'm baffled as to how the app could work on some and not other machines.

Did you try all the things in the FAQ:
In particular the part about compiling with the -e option and opening a console window and typing your app's name on the command line instead of just double clicking on the icon in File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac). The screen won't disappear and you should see the error. Take a screenshot and paste it back here with the frame icon.
