Write in column of matrix

Hi i wanna write on specific column of matrix. I think it should be like this

A[:,1]=A(i)

but it does not works.tnx

Left hand side A is a matrix, but right hand side also an A as a array? Also left hand side shall be

A(:, 1)

Try this:

A = zeros(2,3);
A(:,1) = [8;9]; % A(:,1) is volumn vector of size 2
