            Hello everyone,
I have built a gui in MATLAB guide and am needing to know what parameter/flag is set to 1 when you close out a gui. Here's an example of what i'm trying to do:
User opens gui, puts in some data, and then has something happen where they need to close the GUI. They hit "x" and they see a message saying "test gui has been closed." This message is important because there are background processes programmed into the gui I want to be able to stop so that when the user closes the GUI, they know the MATLAB workspace is at its neutral state.

I would suggest moving away from GUIDE in the first place, but if you insist, doesn't it automatically generate a function that runs when you close the GUI? You can set any flag you'd like there.
In a normal situation I would suggest setting the closereqfcn.
