Excel import failure in Import Wizard

Hi folks:

I get the following error message when I try to open an Excel file in Matlab:

??? No public field DisplayAlerts exists for class COM.excel_application.

I searched the web and found suggestions to reinstall Excel. When I uninstalled Excel, the import wizard was able to read the Excel file. When I reinstalled Excel, I got the same error as above.

What do I need to do?

Try to "run MATLAB as administrator". This might solve the problem. Probably MATLAB does not have access to the files...
