The input of my program is an image. It gives out of memory error. But the same program runs successfully with less resolution version of the same image is used as input. How can I be able to solve this?

Use clear to remove any large variables that are no longer needed by the time you get to the line that throws the exception.
Get a better computer, a 64 bit one with more RAM memory.
Operate on your data in "chunks" that are smaller and able to fit into memory.
What is the resolution? What are you trying to do with it? If you're trying to get something like mean intensity, chances are that you can use a subsampled image and get the same measurements out of it.
