importdata() function problem

I've a problem with importdata() function. In the first case it works but in the second not. Any ideas?

filename = filelist(i,:); --> array of char

%work
working = importdata('/Users/myUser/Docu/MATLAB/Matlab_work/Dafare/Ballarin_seg1andata_lap1.csv');

%doesn't work
notWorking = importdata(str(filename));

It would be helpful to know what ‘not working’ actually means.

Assuming that ‘filelist’ is a cell array, perhaps:

filename = filelist{i,:};

would work.

Note — Curly brackets {} indicating indexing into the content of the cell array.
