Matlab R2021b gets stuck and is not responding when opening in ubuntu 20.04

It always gets stuck at the beginning after I click the icon, sometimes it will work after waiting for some minutes, sometime it won't. Restarting the laptop cannot address this problem.

Hi Jifei,

I understand that you are trying to open MATLAB by clicking on the icon and that is not launching MATLAB. There could be multiple reasons on why this might be happening.

1. Please make sure your system is meeting the system requirements as specified in the following MATLAB documentation. https://www.mathworks.com/content/dam/mathworks/mathworks-dot-com/support/sysreq/files/system-requirements-release-2021b-linux.pdf
2. After clicking MATLAB, Type ps in terminal and look if MATLAB process has started running or not.

If the MATLAB process is not showing up then the issue might be with the shortcut. Try opening MATLAB using command-line.

If the MATLAB process is running and MATLAB window does not show up and no error is displayed then please follow the instructions in the following MATLAB answers thread.
