Fatal Error on Sartup: Cannot locate or initialize class
Show older comments
I am trying to run Matlab R2014b on Windows 8. When I startup the application I am getting an error that says "Warning: Could not read file classpath.txt" when I push OK it comes up with another error entitled: "Fatal Error On Startup" The text of the error is "Cannot locate or initialize class com/mathworks/jmi/OpaqueJavaInterface. java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/mathworks/jmi/OpaqueJavaInterface Caused by:java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.mathworks.jmi.OpaqueJavaInterface at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source) at Java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source)...and it continues like that. Matlab then fails to run.
Can you help me resolve this issuse? This is the first time I have installed MATLAB on this PC.

My question is much like Brett's above. I do not get the classpath.txt error but I do get the java error. I'm running WIN10-64bit if that matters. The Matlab version is R2016A. Did something go wrong with the installation or is this something we can fix after the installation? Thanks.

I am having the exact same issue installing Matlab R2016b on windows 7. "Cannot locate or initialize class......" did you find a solution?
