How to resize remote sensing imagery without losing quality?

Hello
I currently working on remote sensing imagery. But i facing a problem that is re-size(down-sampling pan and ms image) remote sensing imagery without losing quality.
I using imresize function with options. but result of that function is not suitable for my experiments.
Please guys! how to solve this problem.
