How to remove the background from binary image ?Can i using image subtraction ?

I want to detect only the lane markers of the road.So I want to remove the unnecessary background.Here is the image.

We don't know which algorithm from http://www.visionbib.com/bibliography/active688.html#Lane%20Detection,%20Lane%20Following,%20White%20Line%20Detection you used, nor do we have your source code. I suggest you keep working on it or else select a different algorithm. There are plenty on the list.
