Drive sharing does not accept a non dot-com email address

1 view (last 30 days)
I was trying to share a folder to other college students but came across this error. It seems that matlab will not accept email addresses that end in formats other than .com. Note that the email address format for my school is XXXXXXX@sd.XXXXX.edu.my. The first part is all digits, while the second part is the name of my school which is blurred out in the image. How should I correct this?

It seems that MATLAB's email sharing feature has limitations on the email address format it accepts, only allowing email addresses that end in .com. One possible solution is to use a different email address that complies with this requirement for sharing the folder through MATLAB.
You could create an email address using a free email service that ends in .com, such as Gmail, Yahoo Mail, or Outlook. You can then use this email address to share the folder with the other college students.
Alternatively, you could use a different file-sharing service that supports your school email address format. Some options you could consider are Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive. These services allow you to share files and folders by sending a link to the intended recipients, which they can access without needing to sign up for the service or have a specific email address format.
I would recommend checking with your school IT department to see if they have any recommendations for file-sharing solutions that are compatible with your school email address format

You can still share a MATLAB folder with other college students whose email addresses end with formats other than .com, such as XXXXXXX@sd.XXXXX.edu.my. One way to do this is to manually invite users to the shared folder by sending them a link to the folder, rather than using the "Invite People" feature in MATLAB's Shared with Me pane.
To manually invite users to the shared folder, follow these steps:
  1. Go to the shared folder in MATLAB and click on the "Share" button.
  2. In the "Share with People" dialog box, click on the "Copy Link" button to copy the link to the shared folder to your clipboard.
  3. Create a new email message to the college students you want to invite to the folder.
  4. Paste the link to the shared folder into the body of the email message.
  5. Send the email message to the college students.
When the college students receive the email message, they can click on the link to access the shared folder. They will be prompted to sign in to MATLAB if they are not already signed in. Once they are signed in, they will be able to access the shared folder.
Alternatively, you can ask the college students to create a free MathWorks account using their XXXXXXX@sd.XXXXX.edu.my email address, which will give them a @mathworks.com email address associated with their account. They can then use this @mathworks.com email address to access the shared folder in MATLAB.
