How to set default axes tick using groot?

Ran in:
I tried to set axis tick using
set(groot,'XMinorTick','on','YMinorTick','on')
Error using matlab.ui.Root/set
Unrecognized property XMinorTick for class Root.
But it gives an error. any idea how to fix?

set(groot,'DefaultAxesXMinorTick','on','DefaultAxesYMinorTick','on')
