How is boundary( ) related with alphashape ( )?

Hi I'm looking for more detailed information about the boundary function. In the official mathworks says that the boundary function follows alphashape ( ) and boundaryfacets ( ) , is there more information about this relation?.
I found in another place information that made me think it follows marching cubes, and something else that says something about a close relation between boundary (with s=1) and alpha-shape ().
So the questions are, how is related boundary ( ) with alpha-shape? Is boundary ( ) following marching cubes in anyway? What is the relation between alpha of alpha-shape and s of boundary?
Thank you very much

BOUNDARY is just a wrapper for ALPHASHAPE, i.e. it calls ALPHASHAPE inside. You can view the code to see how:
type boundary
or use the inbuilt debug tools to step though BOUNDARY when you call it with some sample values.
