Hello,
I am running the example spiralInductor.
Is there a way to export the geometry for fabrication?
Thank you

Hey Naftali,
I understand that you want to export the model geometrically. While there is not a straightforward approach, you can refer to the “mesh” function to try and generate a 3 dimensional surface:
Once you are able to generate a suitable mesh,you can install the “stlwrite” function from the Add On Manager:
You can refer to the below MATLAB Answer as a guide to install Add Ons:

Hi Naftali,
To export the geometry of a spiral inductor from MATLAB for fabrication:
Ensure the spiral inductor object is created.
Use the "exportGeometry" function to export the geometry. For example, to export as an STL file:
inductor = spiralInductor('NumTurns', 5, 'InnerDiameter', 0.001, 'OuterDiameter', 0.005);
mesh = generateMesh(inductor);
exportGeometry(inductor, 'spiralInductor.stl');
Choose File Format:
- STL: For 3D printing.
- DXF: For 2D cutting.
- GDSII: For semiconductor fabrication.
Check the exported file using a CAD viewer.
Hope this helps.
