Answer from AI:
The error message Unrecognized field name "CustomParams" occurs because of a version mismatch or corruption between your installed MATLAB version and the internal settings file of the MATLAB Support Package for Raspberry Pi Hardware.
When you run raspi or raspilist, MATLAB reads a saved hardware configuration structure (struct). In recent updates, MathWorks modified how hardware configurations or custom parameters are stored. If your package cache has been corrupted or references an obsolete field name that your current MATLAB version's built-in functions don't expect, it throws this error. [1]
Here are the step-by-step methods to fix this:
1. Clear the Hardware Preference Cache
Often, MATLAB holds onto an outdated hardware configuration file. Clearing this cache forces the toolbox to regenerate the hardware lists cleanly. Run the following commands in your MATLAB Command Window:
matlab
% Clear existing hardware configurations from memory
clear hwconnect;
rehash toolboxcache;
% Reset the hardware target preferences
targetpref.clear;
Restart MATLAB completely after running these commands and try raspilist again.
2. Reinstall/Update the Raspberry Pi Support Package
If clearing the cache does not work, the internal structure definitions within the support package are likely mismatched.
  1. Open the Add-On Manager by clicking Add-Ons > Manage Add-Ons on the MATLAB Home tab.
  2. Find the MATLAB Support Package for Raspberry Pi Hardware.
  3. Click the options menu (three dots) next to it and choose Uninstall.
  4. Once uninstalled, go to Get Add-Ons, search for the package, and install the latest version compatible with your MATLAB edition.
3. Check for File Name Conflicts
Sometimes custom scripts named after internal functions override MATLAB's built-in routines, causing structures to build incorrectly. Check if any file is masking internal functions by typing: [1]
matlab
which -all raspi
which -all raspilist
If any path points to a file in your personal working directory instead of the official MathWorks toolbox directory, rename or move your personal file.

Is this the answer from MathWorks Support ?

Here is a last attempt to resolve the problem with the help of AI:
When running MATLAB Online, the standard desktop "Hardware Setup" wizard frequently fails to install third-party local libraries like CMSIS because the MATLAB session is running in the cloud rather than on your local computer.
To resolve this issue and connect your Raspberry Pi to MATLAB Online, you should bypass the desktop installer and configure the hardware directly from your Raspberry Pi's terminal. [1, 2]
1. Install the MATLAB Package Directly on the Pi
Open a terminal on your Raspberry Pi (via desktop terminal, SSH, or a monitor) and run the following commands to install the necessary deployment and communication packages locally: [1, 2]
bash
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install matlab-rpi
2. Configure the Cloud Link
Once installed, run the interactive MathWorks setup script on your Pi: [1]
bash
sudo matlab-rpi-setup
During this setup, you will be prompted to: [1]
  • Name your device: Give your Pi a recognizable name (e.g., myPi).
  • Enable Peripherals: Choose which interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, Camera) you want to activate.
  • Provide Credentials: Enter your MathWorks Account credentials (the same account you use to log into MATLAB Online). [1, 2]
Once completed, restart your Raspberry Pi to apply all changes: [1]
bash
sudo reboot
3. Connect from MATLAB Online
After your Raspberry Pi reboots and is connected to the internet, return to your MATLAB Online browser window: [1]
  1. Verify that your cloud session sees the hardware by typing:
matlab
raspilist
Your Pi should appear in the table with the status "Ready to connect".
2. Establish the connection object in your code: [1, 2]
matlab
mypi = raspi("your_pi_name")
⚠️ Common Troubleshooting Tip
If matlab-rpi fails to install or gives unmet dependency errors on your Pi, check your operating system architecture. The MATLAB local package strongly prefers 32-bit Raspberry Pi OS (Bullseye or Bookworm). If you are running a 64-bit OS release, you may need to flash a 32-bit image onto your SD card for full compatibility. [1, 2]

I am using Matlab on line and Raspberrypi 4 model B with Bookworm 32
After raspilist I execute a script for my sensehat and it workes. The next execution fails with the early mentioned errormessage.
2 years ago I had no problems.
I tried Matlab R2026b and on installing Raspberry I got the included message.
Mathworks is not helpfull
Thanks for your help
