Viola Jones Face Detection

I have used the Viola Jones algorithm and I know about Haar-like features, Integral images and Adaboost Classifiers. But the only thing which is teasing me is that how that classifier decides whether this pixel of the picture is part of the face or not? I mean why it doesn't classify the rest of the part as face? In other words what is the threshold or comparison factor which tells that this part or pixel is face and this one is not. Can anyone please help? I know general discussion is very often here but I am stuck. Thanks.
